Ted Summerton Reserve and Gippsland Regional Cricket Centre – Melbourne Stars

Melbourne Stars Coach, David Hussey

“It’s really important for us to bring the Big Bash to regional Victoria. Sport has the power to bring people together and we are committed to working with the community to inspire the next generation to play cricket. The newly developed Ted Summerton Reserve at Moe is an outstanding example of a high-level cricket centre of excellence – we love playing there and working alongside Latrobe City Council to bring the Stars to Gippsland”

The Melbourne Stars have a strong relationship with the Latrobe Valley having staged matches and community events in the region for a number of years.

After making their regional debut at the ‘Valley Smash’ Big Bash League practice match in December 2017 at Traralgon Recreation Reserve, the powerhouse club returned for their first fully fledged Gippsland game for competition points at Moe’s Ted Summerton Reserve in January 2019.

The Stars recorded a spectacular 44 run victory in front of more than 6000 spectators.

Team Green kept their perfect Moe record in tact in December 2019, winning another BBL showdown against the Hobart Hurricanes at the same venue with star performances from Marcus Stoinis and Haris Rauf.

Stars coach David Hussey was also present at the opening of the Gippsland Regional Cricket Centre of excellence.
