Churchill Island is a superb venue for public events, music festivals and corporate and private functions.
The circuit is a 4.445km or 2.762 mile asphalt track with 12 turns. The home straight (named after Wayne Gardner) has a marked starting grid while the pit facilities on the east side of the straight are a permanent structure with conference/entertainment facilities upstairs. The Pit area includes a media centre, conference rooms and an exhibition pavilion serviced by a commercial kitchen. The spectator areas have canteens and licensed bars and there is extensive seating in the straight as well as expansive grass areas along the rest of the track where spectators can bring their chairs. The Grand Prix Event attracts an estimated crowd of 92,000 illustrating the vast capacity of the venue.
Recently the track was used for cycling as part of a Jayco Herald Sun Tour stage.
The open land has also been used in the past for events such as a Tough Mudder as well as an outdoor music festival held in the south-west corner of the property near Pyramid Rock where a performance area and camping ground was set up.
Other high participation events could be held at the track in the Exhibition Pavilion. This large open space is one of Victoria’s largest regional trade expo areas measuring 2000 square metres and caters for more than 1,300 people in theatre style or 760 dining guests.
